painting Tofino

Today we sent my hubby’s French cousins off to Tofino and my allergies started to kick into high gear.  You may not see the connection, but I am yearning to jump in their rental car and join them on the wild west coast.  It is the best place for me to escape the pollens that ail me at this time of year.  At any time, it is my favourite place in the world!  Busy with kids in a musical and events to celebrate World Oceans Day, I will stay here and sneeze and perhaps find a few moments to work on this Tofino painting for my brother.  It is nearly done!  As I add campfire, tent and surfboards perhaps I will be able to transport myself in some way to the peace of the sneeze free shores I crave!

Full Colour Day

Here’s a peek at the colourful breakfast I had before I zoomed off for a full day of painting in full colour.  Don’t you love the naturally dyed Easter eggs? We had much more success with this kit from GLOB (colours more vibrant than the home made natural dyes we tried to make last year).  The kids were happy with the vibrant colours, they loved that the dyes were made with radish and cabbage and a palm tree, and they were and thrilled that their mama let them eat them this year! (don’t worry, they still got bunny shaped pancakes for their second breakfast)

I am happily tired out after a day of FREE EXPRESSION painting workshop with the inspiring Caroline James.  What a gift on this day, thanks to the Isle of the Arts Festival on my little green island! More events to come, running through next weekend, so check it out!

NOW that was a GREAT NIGHT!  A giant moon lit the way and stars sparkled alongside us sparkling artists and friends (one of my dates for the night was my amazing artist friend Tina Lynch)!  The grid of lovely art at the LOVE SQUARED show was GORGEOUS and the vibe was so very very good!  I was so HAPPY to be a part of it all and so proud of my little square of love being hung on the wall with all these incredible artists (right next to paintings by Tammy Hudgeon and Tina Lynch and Melinda Wilde…kitty corner to works by Sheila Norgate and Mia Tremblay!).  Then a bunch of us ladies went to a community dance (I picked up my eldest daughter on the way) and boy did we ever SHINE on that dance floor!

Hope you get some time to sparkle this weekend too….may I advise a little warm up at Sheila Norgate’s Keep Calm and Carry on Gallery where you can see this painting of mine shining in a room lit up by so much LOVE!

love SQUARED

I did it! I finished my painting for this weekend’s group art show…. LOVE SQUARED!

Now all I have to do is look forward to the amazing art that I will see this weekend.  You can too!  Hope to see you there — drop by and feel the LOVE!

I am so amazed that my art will be hanging on the walls of Sheila Norgate’s KEEP CALM and CARRY ON Gallery, surrounded by the incredible creations of so many talented artists!

heart art (a.k.a. painting with heART)

As I prepare for the upcoming LOVE SQUARED show it seems I am inspired to include hearts in every painting project I have on the go.  Here is the latest, in my favourite mermaid coulours.  This mini painting is on a 3 x 4 inch cradled wood panel, free standing so you can pop it on a night table or a bookshelf (just like this other one I have in my Etsy shop).  If you have a Valentine who might like this little piece of heART, let me know.  On sale direct from me for $25.  Let your love message last longer than the chocolate this year (but make sure you also include the chocolate)!
