As I mentioned last week, I recently won a doll making workshop on Susana Tavares‘ blog. I am so very excited and am blown away by the generosity of the artists I “meet” online. I feel it is time to share some love of my own and so I am offering up my first blog giveaway!
In honour of Mother’s Day I am offering up a “Mother May I…..?” giveaway. I offer this gift to all the mother’s out there, to all of those who have moms and aunts and grandmothers and mama friends to honour, and to all of those (like me) who miss their mother every day. Yes, that means everyone can enter! Just leave a comment by May 12th and share something special about a mother in your life or your own mothering moment here. On Mother’s Day, I will select a winner at random who will receive the following:
- this set of 3 rainbow art cards, professionally printed on 100% recycled paper (yes, the coloured envelopes are 100% recycled paper as well)
AND this set of 3 quiet moment art cards, also professionally printed on 100% recycled paper (because mother earth deserves out honour too).
Don’t you think one of these cards would be the perfect way to honour someone on Mother’s Day? Feel free to honour yourself by writing a note of encouragement to yourself, or penning a favourite quote…then tuck it in a drawer or post it on the fridge to brighten your day! Send a card whenever the moment strikes….I hope that my art will help revive the practice of sending real mail to those you love.
Happy Mother’s Day!
UPDATE —- The random number generator has chosen Natalie as our winner! CONGRATS and THANK YOU ALL for sharing. Enjoy making a new mothering story today!
Awesome Idea Christy… Love it! Of course I do think I have the best Mom in the world as noted in the mothers day blog I created to honour Mom in 2008 and every year I just look back to it : http://discovergabriola.blogspot.ca/2008/05/happy-mothers-day.html .

thanks so much Natalie!
What a great idea Christy. I am LOVING being a Mom and am so excited for my first Mother’s Day! And I can’t wait to see my Mom this summer and give her the biggest hug, and witness her meeting her grandchildren.
all those memories being made…LOVE!
What a great way to pay it forward. I love that my mother taught me to be who I am. If it had been anyone else, I would be a very different person. Thank you mom.
I just really hope that the mistakes I take as a mom are understood and the love I give my children will make my children be whoever they are! I love being a mom too!
I thank your Mom for teaching you that too Cassandra! And I know her loving support is paying off big time with how you raise your kids!
Hi Christy,
beautiful cards – as all your art. Great idea. Hope you have a wonderful Mothers Day too!
Thanks Sabina….big love to you too!
Lovely art work, a memory from me is gazing at my sleeping son who was a few weeks old and thinking how tired i was and how out of my depth i felt but i was so so happy. I don’t think i had been happier in my life and i don’t think i have ever loved someone the way i loved him. It made me think about my own mother and all the other mums in the world, it made me feel so connected.
Thank you for sharing this moment. I too can be so blown away with emotion and connection during these quiet moments. So nice to meet you here!
My mom memory: When she would laugh hard, especially with a good friend, she would cry. Her entire face would crinkle up with laugh lines, and eventually wrinkles, something she became so proud of later in life. This taught me to laugh at every opportunity possible and see my ever increasing wrinkles as merely laugh lines and joyful memories that have stayed on my face.
Happy early Mother’s Day, Christy!
oh Happy Mother’s Day to you too Carrie! your mother’s laughter is something that still fills me with joy every time I remember the good times we shared. I too shall try to think of my newly forming wrinkles as the laugh lines they really are!
I’ve got a Mom who never missed an important event in her kids’ lives. Plays, concerts, guide camps, ballet recitals, music lessons, driving boys to fishing, skiing, camping. How she managed this as a single mom with five kids and a full-time job is a constant source of amazement to me.
WOW! that is truly amazing! so glad you still get to enjoy sharing the moments with her
You are amazing, C! I am probably too late for the giveaway, but still want to comment! I want to thank my mother for passing on her love of fabrics to me!
not too late…
and oh i thank your mother also for passing on that love to you, so we can share the joy!
i remember fondly the matching outfits my mother used to sew for carla and I
