getting outside

Even though it is hardly barefoot weather, this quote keeps coming to me:

…and I find myself listening to these words, getting out for a walk every day, and enjoying the wild wintery moments that whip my hair all about and make me feel part of something so much bigger than the little world that I often get lost in.

I come back from these “little adventures” feeling refreshed, rosy cheeked, and often inspired.  So much so that I must grab the camera to run back out or take a moment to capture the beauty in type…

The taste of winter we finally had this week has been especially magical.  Lured outside to the crunching snow while I walk in so much silence, joining the girls for toboggan giggles and shrieks, splashing in the snowmelt puddles of the forest by the sea.

Perhaps tomorrow I will take a moment to paint something outside the window while I sit by the cozy fire? More likely (more simply) I will just use that coveted F-R-E-E moment to myself to get out there for another escape from my little world (the messy house is so much easier to ignore when I am not in it).

How are you enjoying being outdoors in winter?

  1. loving it… here… in your cyber space :) thanks for sharing … it’s beautiful

this winter I have really enjoyed sliding in my boots in the slush and on the ice… has been FUN, and oddly I have felt balanced while doing it… made me feel like a kid again
